Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Geology or a closely related field by start date; strong record in structural geology and undergraduate teaching; postdoctoral experience

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Geology or related field by start date.
  • Expertise in structural geology and tectonics evidenced by publications or grants.
  • Undergraduate teaching effectiveness.
  • Ability to engage with diverse students and colleagues.
  • Postdoctoral experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 credits of lecture and laboratory courses each academic year.
  • Teach undergraduate courses in geology with focus on structural geology, tectonics, and field geology.
  • Supervise undergraduate research projects.
  • Collaborate with faculty to enhance interdisciplinary research and education.
  • Support the department's field school as needed.
  • Participate in service at departmental, college, university, and community levels.
  • Develop innovative course materials and teaching methods.
  • Mentor students in academic and professional development.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
