Assistant Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies with a specialization in 20th and 21st Century Spanish Peninsular literature and culture, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.

Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in Spanish or a closely related field by the date of employment. The candidate must have at least one year of teaching experience in US institutions at the college level, including graduate fellowships. Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish is required.

The successful candidate will join a faculty in the MLL department that has a strong commitment to research and teaching. The candidate should be able to contribute significant scholarship to their field and teach a wide range of language, literature, and culture courses to undergraduates, as well as participate in departmental, college, and university service. Teaching load is two courses per semester.

The department of Modern Languages and Literatures consists of a diverse group of students, staff, and faculty, and places a strong emphasis on inclusion and belonging in teaching and scholarship. Faculty members in our department participate in interdisciplinary programs, such as Global Studies, Latin American and Latino Studies, and Film and Documentary Studies, among others.
