The MPA is housed in the Department of Social Sciences. Qualifications include a PhD in Public Administration or related field; ABD will be considered if degree is earned by August

Job Description Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for an Assistant Professor of Public Administration to begin Fall 2027. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement and public service, and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. Primary duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Public Administration and Political Science, conducting research, and participating in governance of our NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program. Duties also include serving on departmental, college, university, and professional committees as well as mentoring students. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The Master of Public Administration program is housed within the Department of Social Sciences, which is within the College of Arts and Sciences. Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Public Administration or a related field. Candidates who are ABD will also be considered but must have earned their degree before August 16, 2027. We are looking for candidates with primary research and teaching interests in program evaluation and public policy. The successful candidate will also be able to teach courses in research methods. We strongly encourage candidates with research and teaching interests that would complement our current faculty and strengthen our undergraduate and graduate programs. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong research skills, strong teaching skills, a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or the potential to publish in top scholarly journals, and the potential for or prior experience with seeking and/or securing external grant funding. We offer competitive salaries and a benefits package including health insurance, retirement benefits, and life insurance. Additional pay is available for summer teaching. Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
