Position Highlights The University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film and Television (TFTV) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Practice in Live and Screened Performance (LSCP) (full-time, Career-Track). This position is dedicated to the teaching of acting foundations in our Live and Screened Performance (LSCP) program. Additionally, this position includes directing live performances, so that students may develop the practical experience with the theories taught in class. The successful candidate will participate in service to the school, university, and greater community.
This career-track appointment is not eligible for tenure.

Duties & Responsibilities- Teaches acting foundations in naturalism and modern/contemporary realism and other courses according to qualifications, interest, and/or need of the school, as assigned.
- Provides a basic vocabulary and foundational techniques for creating a character.
- Directs plays on a regular cycle in order to facilitate the application of acting techniques taught in TFTV courses.
- Maintains an active profile as a performing artist and teacher.
- Participates in service and outreach to the School, College, University, community, and profession.
- Leads and collaborates effectively with colleagues on events including community outreach and engagement, recruiting, hosting of festivals, and auditions.
Knowledge, Skills, Advanced (KSAs)
- Demonstrated ability to attract, recruit and retain students.
- Knowledge of contemporary dramaturgies.
Minimum Qualifications- MFA in Theatre with a focus on Acting or Directing or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years teaching at the university level, or equivalent combination of education and professional work experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience and record of creative work and outreach that thoughtfully and conscientiously engages the local community, and/or state and national professional organizations.
- Experience advising and mentoring undergraduate students who represent a wide range of demographics.
- A national profile through research, performance or directing.
- Previous experience as a director.
- Extensive experience in modern/contemporary realism (Stanislavski, Michael Chekhov, Uta Hagen, etc).
