As a full‑time faculty member, the Assistant Professor of Nursing will be primarily responsible for teaching and for seeking out mentoring relationships with students through academic advising, undergraduate research, and student organization support.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Must hold a master’s degree in nursing; a doctorate is preferred. Prior professional or work experience is required.
Experience and Knowledge: Basic knowledge of nursing education and clinical experience in the assigned content area. Must hold an unencumbered RN license in Texas or equivalent compact state licensure. Commitment to maintain professional competence through continuing education, conferences, workshops, seminars, academic courses, research projects, and professional writing.
Skills and Abilities:
The primary work setting is a standard office. Employees work at a desk with computers, phones, and printers in a controlled temperature. Noise is moderate. The role may require teaching in a university classroom with lectures, discussions, and technology use. Classroom conditions vary, but often include projectors, whiteboards, and computers.
Full‑time, the official work week is 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Hours may be scheduled to accommodate teaching and other responsibilities.
Employment is subject to an introductory period. New hires must provide documentation within three days to establish identity and employment eligibility as required by ICE. Must operate a licensed vehicle, have a valid state driver's license, and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
