Job summary

Wilberforce University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology/Exercise Science to teach a broad range of kinesiology courses and mentor undergraduate students. You will also engage in scholarly research and participate in service to the university and community.

The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Physical Education, with ABDs considered if the Ph.D. is awarded by December 31, 2024. Prior teaching experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• PhD required in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Physical Education.
• ABD candidates considered but must have a PhD by December 31, 2024.
• Preference given to candidates with prior teaching experience.
• Active scholarly research is expected.

Responsibilities

• Teach a broad range of kinesiology courses (e.g., athletic training, anatomy & physiology, biomechanics).
• Advise and mentor undergraduate Kinesiology majors and minors.
• Engage in and maintain active scholarly research activities.
• Serve on departmental and university committees and engage in broader service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching a broad range of kinesiology courses, including athletic training, anatomy and physiology, biomechanics of human movement, physical therapy, motor control principles and theory, and exercise physiology.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate Kinesiology majors and minors.
• Engage in and maintain active scholarly research activities.
• Serve on departmental and university committees and engage in other forms of service to the university and academic community.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Physical Education.
• Candidates with ABDs considered but must have a conferred Ph.D. by December 31, 2024.

Minimum Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with Prior Teaching Experience.
