Assistant Professor - Kinesiology

Job Overview

The Department of Health and Human Performance at East Texas A&M University invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position in Kinesiology, focusing on Exercise Science. The appointment will begin in Fall 2026, or as negotiated.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise science, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, and related areas. Teaching load is a 4:4 Fall/Spring, with possible Summer teaching.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research, including theses and applied projects.
  • Maintain an active and focused scholarly research agenda, leading to publications and external funding to support R2 research initiatives and progress toward R1.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance academic programs.
  • Engage in university and professional service activities.
  • Advise and mentor students academically and professionally.
Minimum Requirements
  • Earned Ph.D. in Exercise Science or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution (ABD candidates will be considered if they complete the degree before the start date).
  • Current NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
  • Evidence of highly effective teaching at the collegiate level.
Preferred Education / Skills / Experience
  • Documented professional experience in strength and conditioning at the high school, collegiate, or professional level.
  • Evidence of an active or emerging research agenda in human performance, athletic conditioning, or related areas.
  • Experience supervising graduate research and/or mentoring students into professional or doctoral programs.
  • Experience developing and delivering courses in hybrid or online formats.
  • A documented external grant procurement history.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
