Position Purpose:

Term: Full-time, 9-month, 2 years

The Division of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Studies in theCollege of Education at Wayne State University seeks a full-time,9-month Assistant Professor – Teaching (non-tenure track) withspecialization in Exercise and Sport Science to teach courses,advise students, and provide service to theprogram/division/college/university.

Responsibilities:

• Teach face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online courses in the Exerciseand Sport Science undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students related to coursework,internships, and career preparation.
• Assist with the WSU Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and Committeeon Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES) accreditationsystems.
• Coordinate undergraduate-level initiatives and programs (i.e.,Honors option, student organization, professional developmentactivities, student success initiatives, etc.).
• Assist divisional and program faculty and administrators withstudent recruitment and retention initiatives, program assessment,establishing field/practicum experience sites, and other dutiesrequired to meet organizational needs.
• Participate in service activities that support the Division,College, University, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology,Sport Performance, Human Performance, or a closely relateddiscipline.
• Minimum of three years of university teaching experience.
• Evidence of effective university teaching experience, includingface-to-face instruction using best practices in coursedelivery.
• Evidence of effective online teaching experience, including coursedevelopment, instructional design, and online pedagogy.
• Evidence of effective use of the Canvas or related learningmanagement system.
• Demonstrated ability to advise undergraduate and graduate studentsin coursework, internships, and career preparation.
• Proven ability to interact and collaborate effectively with diversegroups of colleagues and students.
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certifications such as CSCS, NSCA, ACSM, or othernationally recognized credentials. Evidence of teaching experienceacross the sub-disciplines of Exercise and Sport Science.Experience integrating technology, performance assessment, dataanalytics, wearable technologies, or applied laboratory experiencesinto teaching. Experience working with collegiate, secondaryschool, professional, fitness and performance organizations, orcorporate wellness settings. Evidence of leadership incollaborative initiatives and program operations.
