Position Description

The Departmentof History at Texas State University invitesapplications for two full-time instructional faculty positions inU.S. History at the rank of assistant professor. Each positioncarries a 4/4 teaching load and will be in our promotion-eligiblefaculty of instruction line. The successful candidate will beexpected to teach both halves of the department's survey courses inU.S. history. Candidates may also teach upper level or graduateclasses in their area of expertise as part of their teaching loadwhen it fits the needs of the department. Participation indepartmental programs, service, and governance is expected.

Required Qualifications

• A Ph.D. or its equivalent in US History or a related field and18 hours of graduate coursework in U.S. History is required by thetime of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstratedexcellence in the classroom at Texas State University or a peerinstitution as well as a commitment to student mentoring.
• Preference will be given to candidates whose areas of expertisecomplement the existing strengths of the History Department.
