Position Description

The Departmentof History at Texas State University invitesapplications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor witha research focus on Ancient Mediterranean History between 500 BCEand 500 CE. The successful candidate will be expected to teachsurvey courses in ancient Greek and Roman history, the first halfof Western or World Civilization, and specialized undergraduate andgraduate courses on their research area. The successful candidatewill also be expected to develop new undergraduate and graduatecourses and participate in graduate committees. Participation indepartmental programs, service, and governance is expected.

Required Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Ancient History or related field is required by thetime of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference will be given to candidates with experience inApplied History or Digital Humanities, and to those who demonstratean active research agenda with a scholarship record thatcomplements the existing strengths of the History Department.
