The School of Health and Human Sciences is growing and thereforeinviting applications for a 9-month, full-time, benefit eligible,tenure-track position with rank of Assistant Professor in ExerciseScience. The role of this faculty member will be to teach coursesin the undergraduate and graduate Exercise Science programs. The successful candidate will establish an independent, externally funded research program, mentor student research, and participatein service responsibilities at the university and national levels. This position is supervised by the School Director of Health andHuman Sciences. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota. The School of Health and Human Sciences at South Dakota State University is a dynamic, collaborative academic community committedto student success, innovative scholarship, and meaningful impacton health and quality of life. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the ExerciseScience programs.
• Establish an independent, externally funded researchprogram.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

• Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or a closely related field completed by date of application
• Record of research publications and grantsmanship proportionate with experience
• Demonstrated preparation to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise physiology and related areas of exercise science, as evidenced by relevant graduate coursework, teachingexperience, research expertise and/or professional experience
• Effective organizational skills
• Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonalskills
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is notavailable for this position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• Teaching experience in higher education
• Demonstrated contribution in research in chronic diseaseprevention and/or treatment through clinical and/or communityprogramming
• Record of involvement in internally and/or externally fundedgrants
• Research interest aligned with federal health researchpriorities
• Record of professional service
• Exercise Science certification such as ACSM -EP, ACSM - CEP,and others appropriate for specialization
