Bucknell University’s Department of Economics invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position beginning August 1, 2027, specializing in current heterodox approaches. The position is open to candidates in any research field, with particular interest in scholars working in emerging areas that would expand the department’s curriculum, including the economics of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, ecological economics, complexity economics, and macroeconomics.
This role is eligible for visa sponsorship in accordance with University policy. At this time, the University is only able to provide H-1B visa sponsorship for candidates currently residing in the U.S. with a valid, transferable visa status (e.g. H-1B, F-1, J-1). Bucknell is not currently in a position to initiate new H-1B petitions for candidates residing abroad.

The Community Lewisburg (pop. 5,700) is located in central Pennsylvania and features beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), a variety of restaurants, shops and boutiques, and the Barnes & Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore. It is the seat of Union County, which has about 44,000 residents.
