The College of Business (COB) at Athens State University invitesapplications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting.The position requires demonstrated effectiveness, scholarship, andservice (including institutional, professional, and communityservice). Suring the 9-month contract of employment, facultymembers are expected to be available to assist and work withstudents, as well as respond to departmental, college, andinstitutional needs.

In addition to adhering to the general faculty guidelines, asspecified by the Employee Handbook, the Dean of Colleges, and theProvost/Vice President of Academic Affairs, duties willinclude:

DUTIES

• Teaching a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate accountingcourses in a variety of formats (face-to-face, online, hybrid,etc.);
• Developing and delivering courses in a variety of modes,including online courses that ensure quality and effectiveassessment;
• Working with a range of students to assist them in reachinggoals and learning outcomes;
• Professional development and/or scholarship appropriate for ateaching institution to maintain currency in disciplinaryfield(s);
• Maintaining office hours and advising students;
• Serving on committees and assisting with accreditation effortsand institutional assessment, as needed;
• Actively engaging in departmental, college, and institutionalinitiatives;
• Actively engaging with professional organizations, areabusinesses, government agencies, and contractors to developrelationships and opportunities that enrich studentexperiences.
• Participate in recruitment activities for the Accounting andMaster of Accountancy programs, department, college, and universityas appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• Doctorate (preferably Ph.D. in Accounting)
• Nationally-recognized relevant professional certification inaccounting (CPA, CMA, CFE, etc.);
• Ability to effectively teach courses in a wide range ofaccounting topics, demonstrating a working knowledge of rules,regulations, and laws governing U.S. accounting practice.

Preferred Qualifications

An ideal candidatewill demonstrate professional experience in the field ofaccounting. The search committee is especially interested incandidates who, through their professional experience, teaching,and/or service, will contribute to the excellence of the academiccommunity.

Salary Schedule

Salary range $68,000 – $85,000 –$102,000
