We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s student body as an Assistant Professor of Health & Human Performance beginning in the 2027-2028 academic year.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a focused research agenda in exercise science or kinesiology.
• Pursue external grant procurement to support research activities.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise science or kinesiology, using face‑to‑face, hybrid, and/or online delivery formats.
• Participate in scholarly committees, task forces, and other university service activities.
• Perform other duties assigned by the department chair and contribute to departmental, college, and university service.

Minimum Qualifications

• Earned doctoral degree in exercise science or a related field; ABD status accepted only if the degree is conferred by August 20, 2027.

Discipline‑Specific Required Qualifications

• Evidence of a record of success, or potential, in research, teaching, and service in exercise science or kinesiology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field.
• Demonstrated scholarly productivity, grant procurement experience, active participation in professional organizations, and evidence of curriculum development contribution.
• Certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and/or the American College of Sports Medicine.
• Research interests in diabetes, obesity, bone health, or cardiovascular health.
• Teaching experience in online and classroom settings.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
