Job summary

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Insect Declines in the Department of Entomology and School of Integrative Biology. The candidate will develop an externally funded research program on insect biodiversity loss, studying anthropogenic stressors such as land-use change and climate change.

Teaching and mentorship at undergraduate/graduate levels are expected, with service to the university and profession.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in entomology, ecology, evolution, biology, zoology, genetics/genomics, conservation biology, or related discipline.
  • Evidence of teaching and mentorship effectiveness at undergrad/grad levels (or promise).
  • Applicants whose PhD is delayed may be appointed as Instructor before conversion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop externally funded research program.
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses as needed.
  • Collaborate across programs and institutes (INHS, IGB, Beckman, etc.).
  • Provide service to department, university and profession.
