The Department of Design at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Graphic Design for Interactive and Digital Media with a start date of August 16, 2027. The position requires relocation to Austin, TX and a portfolio reflecting design for interactive media.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in graphic design or related field.
• Portfolio demonstrating graphic design for interactive/digital media.
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in design effectively.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate or graduate level courses in graphic design and digital media (typography, motion graphics, UI/UX, accessibility, interaction design, data visualization).
• Mentor undergraduate students.
• Supervise and mentor graduate students, including chairing and serving on thesis committees.
• Contribute to curriculum development, revisions, and reviews.
• Produce creative work or publications with national or international impact in design.
• Participate in shared governance and service on committees and task forces.
• Contribute to the field by serving on boards or peer reviewing proposals and papers.
