Job summary

Sam Houston State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art in Graphic Design, beginning Fall 2027. The candidate should bridge print, interactive, and emerging design fields with expertise in contemporary design technologies and a willingness to explore AI-driven tools.

Responsibilities include teaching five courses per year, contributing to committees, and maintaining a program of sustained creative activity or research.

Qualifications

• MFA or terminal degree in Graphic Design or Visual Communications.
• Teaching experience at undergraduate level strongly preferred.
• Professional design experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Teach 5 courses per year (3/2 load).
• Serve on department, college, and university committees.
• Engage in sustained, peer-reviewed creative activity or scholarly research.
• Teach undergraduate Graphic Design courses such as Principles of Graphic Design, Typography, UX/UI, Motion Graphics, Senior Studio.
