The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) seeks a full-time Assistant Professor who is doctorally prepared for the Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health. This position is responsible for teaching clinically related courses focused on the acute health care needs of adults and achieving positive program outcomes in Entry into Practice nursing programs.

UMSON enrolls over 2,000 students and is part of the University of Maryland graduate professional campus.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree required.
  • Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Maryland or a compact state preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides classroom, lab, and clinical instruction focused on adult health content and evaluation of students.
  • Participates in planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical simulations.
  • Uses evidence-based best practices for educating entry into practice nursing students in pathophysiological concepts and management of acutely ill adults.
  • Advises and mentors entry into practice nursing students.
  • Contributes to interprofessional collaborations by serving on department and school committees.

The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is seekinga full-time Assistant Professor who is doctorally prepared forthe department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health. This position is responsible for teaching clinically relatedcourses focused on the acute health care needs of adults andachieving positive program outcomes and course objectives in theEntry into Practice nursing programs (Bachelor of Science inNursing and Masters Entry into Practice).

UMSON enrolls more than 2,000 students in its baccalaureate,master's, and doctoral programs. UMSON is part of the University ofMaryland graduate professional campus that also includes theschools of medicine, dentistry, law, pharmacy, and social work. Itsinterdisciplinary graduate school has more than 40 programs inbiosciences, law, and social work, and is one of the fastestgrowing biomedical research centers in the nation. The uniquecomposition of the campus enables health professionals to addressclinical care, public policy, and social issues throughmultidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Itslocation in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C.-Annapolis trianglemaximizes opportunities for collaboration with government agencies,health care institutions, and life science industries.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides classroom, lab, and clinical instruction that focuses onadult health content, method of delivery, evaluation of students,and recommendations for curricular adjustments and modificationsfor entry into practice nursing students.
  • Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation ofclinical simulations relative to courses taught.
  • Uses evidence-based best practices for educating entry intopractice nursing students in pathophysiological concepts and theassessment and management of acutely ill adults.
  • Advises and mentors entry into practice nursing students.
  • Contributes to the collaborative efforts of an interprofessionalteam, serving on departmental and school committees.
Qualifications :
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or DNP)
  • Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the state ofMaryland or a compact state.
  • Recent experience in the clinical care of adult populations inacute healthcare settings
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
HIRING RANGE:

$122,000
