Assistant Professor - DNP Program

Overview
To provide ongoing curriculum development, implementation and evaluation of classroom and clinical instruction, participation in student advising, and registration. Full and active participation in the Department of Nursing committees to assist in the continued evolution of the Department of Nursing is an integral part of the position.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the highest level of professional integrity and commitment to professional nursing.
- Maintain frequent and active presence on campus, be available for counseling and advising students, and participate in activities that promote interaction between students and the academic environment.
- Meet the assigned course load and contact hours (18 per year) assigned by the Chairperson of the Program each semester/year. Be on campus at least three full days per week.
- Attendance at faculty meetings, college and departmental functions, and informational sessions is mandatory.
- Punctuality and attendance are mandatory to meet all assigned teaching commitments. Faculty should make up any classes or clinical sessions missed.
- Provide posted office hours of at least four hours per week and be available for appointments outside office hours if necessary.
- Inform students of mid‑term and end‑term progress in advisement meetings.
- Administrative and Clerical Requirements:
- File a course outline (syllabus) with the Chairperson each semester, including detailed objectives, main topics, requirements, assignments, test dates, and evaluation criteria.
- Review Rosters provided by the Office of the Registrar and report any discrepancies.
- Complete all attendance rosters sent out by the Registrar and verify the attendance of all students.
- Submit all final grades to the Registrar in a timely manner.
- As Course Coordinator for courses with a clinical laboratory, manage that course: plan the curriculum, develop the syllabus, distribute it to all clinical instructors, develop tests, schedule class and clinical sessions, correspond with clinical instructors and facilities, and teach a clinical section if needed.
- Participate in committees, including preparation, writing, and editing of accreditation reports, candidacy drafts, and self‑study reports to the accrediting agency and state.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
- Must be a DNP‑prepared FNP, with education from an accredited institution.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Self‑directed and organized.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canvas, and the internet.
Certifications / Licenses
- Must hold an unencumbered NY State Professional RN license.
- Current CPR certification as a Professional Rescuer or Health Provider.
- Family Nurse Practitioner certification.
Travel
- Employee is responsible for professional development at conferences, seminars, and meetings; Touro reimburses a certain amount annually for continuing education.
- Occasional local travel for training sessions and meetings.
Hours / Schedule
- Occasional evenings for Information Sessions.
- Occasional weekends.
Working Conditions
Employees in this position must have the ability to:
- Sit and stand for extended periods.
- Enter data into a computer terminal, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone.
- See and read a computer screen, smart boards, and printed matter (with or without vision aids).
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.
- Speak so that others may understand at normal levels.
- Stand, walk, and bend over, overhead reach, grasp, push, pull, and lift or carry up to a human body weight to simulate clinical scenarios.
Maximum Salary
USD $105,000.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
USD $84,000.00/Yr.
