Assistant Professor - Academic Track or Master Clinician

The Division of Neonatology at the University of Minnesota is seeking a full time board certified/eligible Neonatal-Perinatal Physician at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor on the Academic Track. We seek a candidate with proven clinical experience in newborn intensive care and research or instruction/education, with interests in one or more of the following fields: neonatal nutrition, neurodevelopment, infection/immunity,hematology, pulmonology/resuscitation, global neonatology, ethics, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, point-of-care ultrasound, educational and outreach program development, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

About the Appointment:

  • The position will serve the Level IV NICU located in the Masonic Children’s Hospital (UMMCH), three Level III NICU’s located at MHealth Fairview Southdale, Ridges, and St. John’s Hospitals, and a level II NICU located at MHealth Fairview Woodwinds Hospital. The potential also exists for serving the NICUs at Children’s Minnesota through a contract.
  • The NICU at UMMCH is a comprehensive NICU that serves the five-state region and provides care for all acuity levels. Services include ECMO, peritoneal and hemo- dialysis, general and cardiovascular surgery, and therapeutic hypothermia.
  • We offer a strong family and team environment and are committed to supervising, mentoring and instructing advanced practice providers, medical students, residents and fellows along with other curriculum development responsibilities.
  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME Pediatric residency and a Neonatal-Perinatal fellowship training program.
  • Board eligible/certified in Neonatal – Perinatal Medicine
  • Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota
  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
  • Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in newborn intensive care and research interests in the above-mentioned fields .
  • Able to get medical license in both Minnesota and Wisconsin

The University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital is nationally ranked as one of the best Children's Hospitals with special recognition in five sub-specialties, including Neonatology (source: 2018 US News and World Report). The Division is a national leader in providing innovative care, conducting research, and teaching skills to recognize and treat medical problems of the neonate. The Division participates fully in the Department of Pediatrics mission, focusing its attention through patient care, teaching and research on medical problems that arise during infancy and the consequences of disease that persist into later life. The Division serves as a resource for other newborn intensive care units for infants with multi-organ system failure, complex diagnostic and surgical problems, and long-term, technology-dependent conditions.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $248,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
