Rosewood Market + Deli in Columbia, SC is seeking an Assistant Produce Manager to join our hands-on produce team. You will support the Produce Manager, lead daily operations, ensure quality displays, receive shipments, and help manage inventory while upholding food safety standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in produce, perishables, or grocery/retail
• A sharp eye for quality, you know what fresh looks like
• Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
• Experience with ordering, receiving, and inventory management a plus
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in cold environments
• Genuine passion for fresh, natural, thoughtfully sourced food
• Dependable, punctual, and ready to work on weekends if needed

Responsibilities

• Support the Produce Manager in performance, efficiency, and day-to-day operations
• Help lead and develop the produce team with high standards for quality and presentation
• Oversee product receiving; inspect deliveries, verify quality, and flag discrepancies
• Manage back stock, rotate stock, and ensure accessibility
• Monitor the floor; cull, restock, and maintain displays to Rosewood standards
• Assist with ordering and inventory management to minimize shrink
• Ensure all product is properly priced, signed, and merchandised
• Uphold strict food safety, sanitation, and handling standards
• Step up in the absence of the Produce Manager to keep the department running
• Communicate through Homebase and email
• Treat customers and co-workers with courtesy, respect, and genuine care

ASSISTANT PRODUCE MANAGER

$18.00 / hour to start

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Support the Produce Manager in the overall performance, efficiency, and day-to-day operations of the department
• Help lead and develop the produce team, setting a high standard for quality, presentation, and accountability
• Oversee product receiving; inspect incoming deliveries, verify quality, and flag any discrepancies
• Manage back stock, ensuring product is properly stored, rotated, and accessible
• Monitor the floor throughout the day; culling, restocking, and maintaining displays to Rosewood standards
• Assist with ordering and inventory management to minimize shrink and keep the department well stocked
• Ensure all product is properly priced, signed, and merchandised

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• 2+ years of experience in produce, perishables, or a related grocery/retail environment preferred
• A sharp eye for quality, you know what fresh looks like and you don't compromise on it
• Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
• Experience with ordering, receiving, and inventory management a plus
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities at once
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and comfortable working in cold environments
• A genuine passion for fresh, natural, and thoughtfully sourced food
• Dependable, punctual, and ready to work (including weekends, if needed)
• A team-first attitude with the initiative to lead when it counts
