Job summary

Barrington Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Principal for Student Life at Barrington High School in Barrington, Rhode Island. The candidate will lead school climate initiatives, oversee attendance, and supervise building staff to foster a respectful and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements include a master’s degree and eligibility for a Rhode Island principal certificate, plus several years of classroom teaching and demonstrated leadership in education.

Qualifications

• Hold or be eligible for a valid principal's certificate issued by the Rhode Island Department of Education.
• A Master’s Degree.
• Five years' successful classroom teaching experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and initiative in the field of education.
• Any exceptions to the above as may be acceptable to the School Committee.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all certified and non-certified personnel within the building(s).
• Lead professional learning around proactive social and emotional behavioral strategies to ensure all students’ success.
• Monitor student attendance and support chronically absent students and families.
• Coordinate, plan and manage AP test ordering and administration and assist with state testing requirements.
• Work with building administrators to supervise and evaluate certified staff as needed.
• Develop and maintain a positive school climate conducive to effective learning and high expectations for all.
• Establish and maintain relationships with community groups to support school objectives.
