Job summary

The School Assistant Principal works cooperatively with the principal and administers under the Putnam County Board of Education policies. The 225‑day position offers an administrative salary schedule based on experience and education, plus a competitive benefits package including PEIA insurance and retirement.

Holders for WV Professional Administrative Certificate and a relevant master’s degree are required, with preferred elementary teaching experience and strong communication, discipline, and

Qualifications

• Holds or qualifies for WV Professional Administrative Certificate.
• Master's degree related to the public school program.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction and student discipline.
• Demonstrated effective communication and computer skills.
• High ethical, moral and professional standards.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at elementary level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate instructional leadership to enhance school effectiveness.
• Provide purpose and direction for the school.
• Analyze information to reach established goals.
• Manage group behaviors to achieve consensus.
• Coordinate instructional and extracurricular activities.
• Supervise and evaluate professional and support staff as assigned.
• Monitor attendance and student behavior; report as needed.
• Assist with scheduling and testing programs according to policy.
• Maintain school facilities and equipment responsibilities.
• Contribute to development and implementation of school goals.
