The Dougherty County School System is seeking an Assistant Principal to join diverse school leadership teams across locations. The role supports the Principal in advancing instructional vision, operational effectiveness, and student success in a safe, inclusive environment.

The position emphasizes instructional leadership, data-driven decision making, restorative practices, and strong collaboration with staff, students, families, and partners to ensure high expectations and district alignment.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Education is required; higher degree preferred.
• Must hold or be eligible for the Georgia Leadership Certification in Educational Leadership.
• Five years of progressively responsible education experience as a classroom teacher, counselor, instructional coach or other certified position.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Principal in designing, implementing, and monitoring high-quality instructional programs aligned with district goals and standards.
• Support teachers through classroom observations, coaching, and feedback to enhance instructional practice.
• Analyze assessment data to identify trends and guide instructional planning and intervention.
• Promote professional learning that supports innovation, instructional excellence, and student engagement.
• Foster a safe, supportive, and positive school culture.
• Lead restorative practices, PBIS, and SEL initiatives.
• Build partnerships with families and community stakeholders to enhance the school experience.
• Support daily school operations, including supervision of facilities, transportation, and safety procedures.
• Coordinate student discipline with district policy, ensuring fairness and due process.
• Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and develop school personnel; contribute to professional learning communities.
