Job summary

• Master's degree in Education or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible school experience.
• Minimum 3 years supervisory/administrative experience.
• Experience in special education and/or 853 school.
• Knowledge of New York State Special Education practices and policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff in all HS Classrooms and buildings (12 classrooms).
• Coordinate electives and CTE courses with program teachers.
• Primary parent contact for high school after classroom staff.
• Curriculum coordination for 9-12th grade.
• Oversee assessments, including Regents.
• Ensure students have courses, credits and meet graduation requirements.
• Coordinate with placing CSEs.
• As part of the school leadership team, work with other leaders to maintain education program.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Under the supervision of the School Principal, the High School Assistant Principal will provide strong, consistent leadership to the Education Department at the Brewster campus, being specifically responsible for the functioning of the High School and Vocational Programming. Through a collaborative relationship with all members of the Education team, this position will assist in maintaining a balanced alliance between the Education Department and other departments within the agency, as well as the Clearpool campus and organization stakeholders.

The pay rate for this role is $84, 500 -94,500 per year depending on certification and education.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise staff in all HS Classrooms and buildings (12 classrooms); responsible for all HR and personnel related activities associated with recruiting, hiring and retaining adequate staffing
• Coordinate electives and CTE courses with program teachers
• Primary Parent contact of high school after classroom staff
• Curriculum coordinator for 9-12th grade
• Oversee Assessments, including Regents
• Ensure students have courses, credits and meet requirements for graduation
• Coordinate with placing CSEs
• As part of the school leadership team, work with other school leadership to build and maintain overall education program
• Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

• Master's degree in Education or other related human service field required
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible school related experience required
• Minimum of 3 years supervisory/administrative experience required; can consider internal candidate with multiple years’ of agency service without supervisory experience
• Experience working in a special education and/or 853 school
• Knowledge and understanding of New York State Special Education practices and policies required

Licensure/Certification:

• New York State School Administration Certification, or the ability to obtain one within six years
