Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking an assistant principal who will support the principal in managing school operations, academics, discipline, and staff to ensure a positive learning environment.

The role requires leading diverse staff and implementing plans to meet the educational needs of pupils, collaborating with families and community partners, and managing budget and policy adherence to improve instructional quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education or in the subject areas for which you are applying.
  • Master's Degree and Leadership Experience Preferred.
  • Hold a valid Colorado Department of Education Principal License (Must be current and active).
  • 2+ years of school leadership experience.
  • Commitment to racial and educational equity in the community and ensuring high-quality education for all students.
  • Residence in Colorado and ability to meet physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a staff of administrative, certificated and classified personnel assigned to the school.
  • Develop plans to improve instruction and foster student achievement and development.
  • Keep the Principal informed and recommend activities, events, and curriculum for effective instructional organization.
  • Collaborate with parents, community organizations, and committees to develop a School Improvement Plan with high goals.
  • Oversee student conduct policies and participate in pupil activities and events.
  • Recommend purchases of materials and equipment within budget restraints.
  • Communicate education-based aims to staff and central administration.
  • Develop a public relations program to enhance community understanding of school programs.
  • Supervise staff, support professional growth, and monitor performance and promotions as needed.
  • Plan and administer the school budget and ensure compliance with policies and laws.
