Job summary

East St Louis School District 189 is seeking a Middle School Assistant Principal to provide leadership in an alternative education setting. You will support implementing academic and behavioral interventions, supervise staff, and foster a culture of accountability and student success.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, an Illinois PEL with appropriate endorsement, and at least three years of teaching experience, preferably in alternative or special education.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field.
  • PEL with Administrative/Principal Endorsement in Illinois.
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience, preferably in alternative or special education.
  • Administrative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the principal in developing and implementing the school's vision, mission, and goals.
  • Oversee daily school operations, ensuring a safe and structured learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the principal and staff to develop policies supporting diverse needs.
  • Supervise and evaluate instructional staff to promote growth and effectiveness.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard school staff.
  • Develop behavioral intervention strategies and monitor student progress.
  • Lead professional development on trauma-informed practices and restorative justice.
