Job description

Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of packaged goods, has an immediate need for an experienced Press Apprentice, to join their growing team in North Syracuse.

Our candidate of choice will be responsible for assisting press operators with set-up, cleanup, job changes, and pre-staging when required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure pressrooms are clean and maintained with necessary materials
• Attend to paper staging areas when needed
• Be attentive and receptive to supervisor, press operator, and pre-stage training and feedback

Additional Key Responsibilities:

• Identify issues/problems, evaluate options, and implement solutions
• Understand machines, tools, and computers, including design, use, repairs, and maintenance
• Apply mathematical concepts such as measurement and logic
• Provide good customer service and interpersonal skills, working well with a wide range of professions and personalities
• Communicate effectively in English, both reading and writing
• Demonstrate good analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Be detail-oriented
• Lift up to 50-60 pounds and push/roll 300–800 pounds with a pallet jack
• Have good manual dexterity for tasks like cutting, grasping, guiding, pressing, pulling, pushing, rolling, typing, and turning knobs
• Stand for long periods on varied surfaces, reaching, twisting, bending, and stretching as needed
• Possess excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception
• Decipher colors accurately
• Pass pre-employment screening, including drug testing
• Note: Success in the press apprentice role is a prerequisite for advancement to a press operator role
