Role Description

The Assistant Preschool Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL. This position supports the lead teacher in implementing daily classroom activities, including helping prepare and deliver age-appropriate lessons, guiding play-based learning, and assisting with classroom management. Responsibilities include supervising children to ensure safety, supporting social and emotional development, maintaining a clean and organized learning environment, and helping set up materials and learning centers. The role also involves communicating with the lead teacher and families as needed, assisting with progress observations, and contributing to a positive, inclusive classroom culture that aligns with the center’s educational philosophy. 40,000 - 42,000 per year

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Early Childhood Education, including knowledge of child development and age-appropriate learning practices.
• Ability to assist with Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development to support engaging and structured preschool activities.
• Experience or familiarity with Kindergarten readiness skills and early learning standards.
• Effective Communication skills for interacting with children, families, and colleagues in a professional and respectful manner.
• Prior experience working with young children in a classroom, childcare, or similar setting is preferred.
• Associate’s Degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education or related field, with a minimum of 15 college credit hours in early childhood education ; coursework or certification in Early Childhood Education is highly beneficial.
• Ability to stand, move, and engage in activities with children throughout the day, and to follow all safety and regulatory guidelines.
