ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assists and supervises children during all activities.
2. Attends and participates in staff meetings, Academy events, and parent meetings, as requested.
3. Develops plans and prepares instructional aids and materials for classroom activities, as needed.
4. Ensures that appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of classroom are appropriately maintained, in accordance with the NAEYC cleaning and sanitizing guidelines.
5. Assists with ensuring the physical and emotional needs of the children are met daily.
6. Assists with ensuring all policies and procedures are being implemented to keep the children healthy and safe.
7. Assists children with mealtimes and cleanup.
8. Assists with all Academy and classroom paperwork: for example, daily notes, accident reports, and attendance reports.
9. Assists with preparation and implementation of classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedule.
10. Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly.
11. Responsible for attending workshops, conferences, and in-service training, as requested.
12. Reports any problems to the Lead Teacher or the Academy Director.
13. Reports to Academy Director when not able to attend work.
14. Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds to at least waist high on a consistent basis throughout the workday.
15. Accepts temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled personnel are not available; for example, takes full responsibility for the classroom in the absence of the classroom Teacher, or may write, submit, and implement a weekly lesson plan.
16. Performs other similar or related duties as necessary.
17. Must meet all state and local licensing requirements for the position.
18. Must have high school diploma or equivalent and be 18 years of age or must be in a high school work study program relating to the area of child care.
19. Must receive the required amount of training hours, if any, each calendar year per state licensing requirements.
20. Candidate must pass all state medical requirements and have a clear background check to qualify for employment.
