Job summary

Delaware River and Bay Authority is seeking an Assistant Port Engineer to lead the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Marine Engineers and Maintenance teams. You will help set priorities and action plans to keep the fleet operating, repaired, and compliant with regulations and company standards.

This position reports to the Port Engineer and oversees maintenance planning, night watch, budgets, and vendor relations, ensuring quality work, safety, and customer service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with increasing responsibility.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in transportation or maintenance (5 years preferred).
  • Experience with marine propulsion engines preferred.
  • USCG Chief Engineer license and TWIC required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead marine engineers and maintenance staff to maximize vessel availability.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance planning and execution.
  • Manage budgets, purchases, and vendor relationships.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and the Coast Guard.
  • Act as Port Engineer substitute as needed.
