Job summary

Food Management Search, Inc. is assisting an established heavy civil contractor in finding an Assistant Project Manager for highway and utility projects across Virginia.

The position is based in the Fredericksburg, VA area with relocation available. You will work alongside a senior PM on roadway, highway and utility work, much of it VDOT, driving submittals, RFIs, procurement and cost tracking while keeping schedules and safety at the forefront.

Qualifications

• 3+ years on heavy civil, highway or utility projects as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer or APM.
• VDOT or other DOT project experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of scheduling and cost tracking.

Responsibilities

• Drive submittals, RFIs and procurement so field crews stay ahead of the work.
• Coordinate subcontractors and supplier purchase orders.
• Track quantities, production and cost against budget.
• Prepare monthly pay applications and cost projections.
• Support schedule updates and change management.
• Work with VDOT inspectors and owner representatives.
• Keep project documentation clean and current.
• Take part in weekly schedule and cost reviews with the project team.
• Support a strong jobsite safety culture.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
