Job summary

Saint-Gobain in Chicago, IL seeks an Assistant Plant Manager to oversee personnel, equipment, and safe, efficient operations at a unionized facility. You will drive lab and rework improvements, manage wash water handling and reuse programs, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of experience.
• Experience in a fast-paced union manufacturing environment.
• Strong aptitude for basic math and attention to detail in sequential work.
• Basic understanding of computers and computer-controlled equipment, with general knowledge and user skills with: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Internet.
• Command of the English language.
• Ability to work Mon-Fri from 10AM to 7PM. The Assistant Plant Manager covers for Shift Supervisors when they are on vacation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee personnel, equipment, and safe, efficient operation of the Chicago facility.
• Lead operational excellence initiatives and drive process improvements for product lines.
• Develop workforce capabilities and lead 5S events and cross-training.
• Champion customer service improvements and partner with cross-functional teams to improve plant performance.
