Job summary

Baker Commodities Inc. seeks a capable Plant Manager to lead the Seattle facility, ensuring safe, efficient operations, compliance with all regulations, and optimal maintenance programs under the Plant Manager and Northwest Regional Manager.

Eligible candidates will supervise maintenance staff, coordinate work orders, and drive continuous improvement while overseeing costs, labor, and safety across the division in Seattle.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • 3+ years in an industrial plant setting; rendering plant experience is a plus.
  • Less than 10% travel requirement.
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience.
  • Electrical knowledge; motors, controls, variable frequency drives, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills for recordkeeping.
  • Ability to speak, read and write clearly and proficiently in English. Understanding of a second language is a plus.
  • Knowledge of FSMA, HAACP and APPI procedures and documentation is a plus. Must be able to work at night.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure plant operations comply with all Company, city, county, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Prepare operating permits and provide these permits to management and corporate for review.
  • Direct and guide plant staff to meet performance goals established by Management.
  • Control costs by reviewing purchase orders, invoices and financial reports; suggest cost-saving measures with Plant Manager and Northwest Regional Manager approvals.
  • Manage labor force: scheduling, timekeeping, and employee development; mentor and cross-train staff.
  • Assist in interviewing and recommending new hires; ensure efficient operation per company policies.
  • Ensure adherence to quality control and safety regulations (HAACP, FSMA, APPI).
  • Respond to production problems; investigate issues; inform Plant Manager and Northwest Regional Manager of significant developments.
  • Review production, yield, payroll, and financial reports; propose productivity improvements.
