Job summary

DTE Energy in Lansing, MI is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to oversee day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Central Utility Complex and related asset systems across the automotive facility.

You will lead safety, reliability, and efficiency initiatives, manage O&M staff, coordinate with the Plant Manager, and drive continuous improvement and cost-effective performance within policy guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 8 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a Cogeneration power plant with a represented (Union) workforce.
• Technical degrees are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Central Utility Complex and related assets.
• Lead safety culture and ensure compliance with site safety and environmental requirements.
• Develop and manage operating philosophies to maximize availability, efficiency, and productivity.
• Ensure contractors comply with company policies and safety requirements.
• Manage O&M technicians and skilled trades to optimize staffing and reduce overtime.
• Coordinate budgeting with the Plant Manager and seek cost improvements.
• Drive continuous improvement of plant metrics and performance.
• Mentor and develop plant personnel in equipment knowledge and problem solving.
