Job summary

DTE Energy in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking a seasoned operations leader to oversee day-to-day activities of the central utility complex and Stellantis SHSP assets. The role requires managing a unionized workforce and coordinating with Plant Manager on safety, reliability, and maintenance priorities.

You will drive maintenance strategies, supervise engineers and skilled trades, monitor budgets, and lead continuous improvement efforts to maximize plant availability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum: high school diploma or GED with 8+ years of supervisory experience in a cogeneration power plant.
• Experience supervising unionized labor is required.
• Strong knowledge of generating equipment, boilers, and water treatment processes.
• Ability to plan, schedule, and manage maintenance work with discipline and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills in a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance for the central utility complex and Stellantis SHSP assets.
• Supervise an hourly unionized workforce including Stationary Engineers, Operators, and Skilled Tradespersons.
• Develop and implement operating philosophies and best practices to maximize availability and productivity.
• Ensure contractors comply with safety policies and plant procedures.
• Establish and review maintenance requirements and budgets with the Plant Manager.
• Lead continuous improvement and contribute to cost optimization and performance metrics.
