Job Description

Wastequip is looking to hire an Assistant Manager at our Erie, NJ location. The role leads a high‑performance manufacturing facility, utilizing lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

Salary: $120,000 - $130,000, plus bonus and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop direct reports.
• Champion a safety‑first culture.
• Financial responsibility for the entire operation, including analyzing financial statements and developing product costs for labor, material, and overhead.
• Achieve EBITDA margins and dollars set forth in the AOP while staying within budgets for labor, material, and overhead.
• Control overhead costs, including variable and fixed costs, material and labor costs, and direct, indirect, general, and administrative personnel expenses.
• Develop annual operating plans and other financial reports, justify performance variances, and implement formal corrective action plans.
• Track throughput to meet on‑time delivery and customer requirements.
• Interact with corporate personnel, engineering, sales, and customers.
• Ensure plant compliance with corporate processes, disciplines, and methodologies.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, conducting Kaizen and other lean events with the Operational Excellence team.
• Improve productivity through reduced cycle time and other lean processes.
• Monitor purchasing costs for material, tools, and supplies.
• Control, monitor, and adjust inventory levels and staffing as required to meet current market conditions and forecasted plans.
• Support the sales department in meeting customers’ delivery requirements.
• Travel to other Wastequip locations, including group headquarters, as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership in manufacturing operations management.
• 4‑year college degree desired, or combination of equivalent experience and education.
• Knowledge of metal processing, coil leveling, shearing, punch press, and press breaks is preferred.
• Knowledge of metal fabricating, MIG welding, and painting processes is preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Certification is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience using ERP systems, especially Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills.
• Highly motivated, driven self‑starter.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
