Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s preferred.
• 4+ years of accounting or finance experience, healthcare or public accounting valued.
• Experience with high-volume cash reconciliations and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills including XLOOKUPs, PivotTables, and large data analysis.
• Ability to mentor staff and lead without daily supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly financial analyses of operations for management guidance.
• Prepare reports on income, expenses, and earnings based on earnings history.
• Assist with statutory reporting and audits of health plan accounts.
• Monitor processes to ensure GAAP/SSAP compliance and internal controls.
• Provide financial and business analysis as required.
• Communicate health plan needs to relevant parties for action.
• Help develop and monitor program results.

Job description

Position Purpose: Assist with the management of the financial affairs for all health plans. Key Details: Preferred candidates will be located in Missouri and able to work onsite approximately once per week (generally three times per month). A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required. Ideal candidates will have experience with high-volume cash reconciliations, month-end close activities, process improvements, and leading or mentoring staff. Advanced Excel skills are required, including XLOOKUPs, PivotTables, large data set analysis, and account reconciliations, along with experience using Power Query and Power Automate. Familiarity with Copilot or other AI tools to automate workflows, analyze information, and improve efficiency is highly desired. This role leads two direct reports and provides significant exposure across Finance and operational business teams.

Assistant Plan Controller role

• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial analyses of operations for guidance of management
• Assist with the preparation of reports which outline the company’s financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present and future earnings.
• Assist with the preparation of statutory reports
• Assist with the monitoring of business processes and systems to assure integrity in health plan financial reports and information and in systems of internal accounting control in compliance with GAAP and/or SSAP and Company policies and standards
• Assist in the arrangement of audits of the health plan’s accounts
• Provide financial and business analysis as required
• Convey health plan needs to the appropriate parties for coordinated action.
• Help develop, implement and monitor program results

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree preferred 4+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in public accounting or healthcare industry.

License/Certification

CPA preferred.

Pay Range

$70,100.00 - $126,200.00 per year.
