Crystal Mountain seeks an Assistant PGA Golf Professional to support the Director of Golf in operations, instruction, and event execution. The successful candidate will assist with private and group instruction, junior programs, and collaborate with the team on tournaments and club events. Evening/weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with golf operations and private clubs preferred.
  • Familiar with teaching, club fitting, and junior programs is a plus.

  • Provide golf instruction and junior programs assistance.

Job Summary

The Assistant PGA Golf Professional supports the Director of Golf and the golf team in all aspects of golf operations, including instruction, merchandising, tournament coordination, staff supervision, and facility presentation. This position helps provide a seamless, polished, and service-focused golf experience consistent with Crystal Mountain standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Golf Operations
  • Assist with daily golf operations, including tee sheet management, pace of play, cart operations, tournament operations, and equipment rental.
  • Open and close the golf shop as scheduled and operate golf shop point-of-sale systems.
  • Provide and interpret golf rules, policies, and procedures for members and guests.
  • Perform starter and marshal duties as needed.
  • Complete required operational reports and support fee collection, cash-drawer accountability, and bank deposits when assigned.
  • Act as the on-site or shift supervisor when assigned in the absence of the Director of Golf.
Instruction and Member Engagement
  • Assist with private and group golf instruction, including clinics and junior programs.
  • Maintain playing ability and remain current on teaching and club-fitting best practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, members, guests, and the public.
Tournament and Event Management
  • Coordinate the setup, execution, and breakdown of club tournaments, leagues, group outings, and special events.
  • Prepare scorecards, cart signs, proximity markers, scoring documentation, and other tournament materials.
  • Accurately document and report tournament entries and results.
Merchandising and Retail
  • Maintain golf shop appearance, organization, merchandise flow, and displays.
  • Oversee inventory control and assist with merchandise sales and staff training on retail displays and procedures.
Staff Supervision and Administration
  • Assist in selecting, training, scheduling, assigning, supervising, and evaluating golf staff, including golf shop attendants, starters, rangers, and outside-services staff.
  • Provide clear written and verbal direction, review work for accuracy and compliance, correct errors, and assist with guest or employee concerns.
  • Promote positive customer service, teamwork, safety practices, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Facility Presentation and Maintenance Support
  • Monitor and assist with the upkeep of golf carts, the staging area, patio plaza, learning center, and surrounding outdoor areas.
  • Coordinate with golf attendants to maintain cleanliness and proper setup of the learning center and outdoor areas.
  • Report safety hazards and maintenance needs promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
Competencies:
  • Current PGA Member or PGA Associate in good standing preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of USGA Rules, golf event software, tournament formats, and golf etiquette.
  • Experience in the following is preferred:
    • Tournament Setup Operations - Golf Genius/Unknown Golf
    • Trackman Simulator – Club fitting/Teaching/General play
    • Tee Sheet management - POS and inventory control
    • Cart Fleet management - Outside service scheduling.
  • Solid merchandising background preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret business and trade information and respond effectively to staff and guest inquiries.
  • Maintains office, employee, and company confidentiality.
  • Dependable, goal-oriented, and committed to professional conduct and company Core Values.
Education:
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of one year of golf operations or private club/resort experience preferred.
Physical & Other Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Evenings, weekends, and holidays are a regular part of the schedule.
  • Non-smoking candidates preferred.
