Job summary

Hood Container Corporation in St. Francisville, LA seeks an Assistant Paper Machine Superintendent to maximize safety, reliability, and performance of the Kraft linerboard line.

You will bridge production, maintenance, engineering, and reliability teams, coordinating planning, execution, and improvements with a strong safety focus. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in paper mill operations, maintenance, or a related industrial environment.
• Working knowledge of safety systems, maintenance planning, and equipment reliability.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety culture and ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with procedures.
• Coordinate equipment preparation, permitting, and lockout/tagout activities.
• Ensure resources, materials, permits, and personnel are in place before work begins.
• Support safety processes including hot work, confined space entry, permits, and energy isolation.
• Lead daily coordination meetings between operations and maintenance teams.
• Develop and manage daily, weekly, and outage maintenance schedules.
• Prioritize maintenance activities based on safety and production impact.
• Coordinate downtime and maintenance windows to minimize disruptions.
• Partner with maintenance teams to ensure planned work is completed safely and on schedule.
• Serve as the primary link between operators, maintenance, engineers, and supervisors.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and share information across teams.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Identify recurring challenges and implement sustainable solutions.
• Develop SOPs, outage plans, and job plans for major repairs.
• Capture lessons learned to improve future planning and execution.
• Develop detailed outage plans with lockout requirements, timelines, and responsibilities.
• Coordinate readiness for planned shutdowns and turnarounds.
• Ensure operators and supervisors understand expectations and preparations for maintenance.
• Monitor and manage key process chemical inventories.
• Coordinate with purchasing and storeroom for spare parts and supplies.
• Ensure essential machine components and maintenance materials are available when needed.
