Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager, Patient Care Services in Baltimore to lead clinical units and ensure high-quality patient care. You will partner with the Nurse Manager to supervise nursing staff, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive performance improvements across multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires a BSN, Maryland RN licensure, and at least three years of clinical experience, with a Master’s degree in progress preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• Master’s degree with management coursework preferred.
• Incumbents are expected to matriculate in an accredited graduate program within one year of employment.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or eligibility for licensure under MD Board of Nursing.
• Three years of clinical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Helps to manage and evaluate the system of care delivery and clinical services on one or more patient care units under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
• Assesses requirements for care delivery systems to meet changing patient population requirements and plans strategies and services to meet objectives.
• Ensures excellence of clinical practice and patient care services, meeting customer requirements and improving outcomes.
• Supports unit-based professional practice partnerships designed around customer requirements involving staff in decision making.
• Develops and maintains leadership relationships to support a healthy workplace and staff retention.
• Implements systems to assess and respond to customer perceptions and feedback.
• Coordinates staffing plans including skill mix and scheduling under the Nurse Manager.
• Teaches and coaches staff in process analysis and improvement techniques using data to assess unit performance.
• Creates a unit-based climate that values diversity and promotes staff development.
• Directs implementation of unit level process changes to improve value of automated systems.
