Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to partner with the Nurse Manager in leading daily unit operations and ensuring high-quality patient care. The role emphasizes clinical leadership, staff development, and compliance with policies and regulations within a Magnet-inspired framework.

The ANM will supervise weekend/off-shift nursing, contribute to staffing plans, and drive initiative projects while maintaining budget discipline and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience with the appropriate patient population.
• Ability to lead clinical teams and manage health-care operations.

Responsibilities

• 1) Clinical Practice and Quality Outcomes: administers direct nursing care and serves as a clinical resource and role model of excellence.
• 2) Human Resource Leadership: leads a positive work environment, recruits & hires, staff development, recognition, retention, performance management, and coaching.
• 3) Management of the Patient Care Environment: visible unit leader, coordinates with other departments to meet patient care needs and resolve unit issues.
• 4) Financial Growth and Stewardship: manage within budget, develop and monitor unit business plans and budgets, address variances with Nurse Manager.
• 5) Operational Planning: set performance plans, improve patient flow, and establish staffing plans responsive to changing needs.
• 6) Staff education/training in partnership with Educator/Manager.
• 7) Facilitates staffing models to support case volumes and acuity.
• 8) Evaluates clinical processes/workflows for efficiency and change management.
• 9) Direct nurse supervision on weekends/off shifts with clinical supervisor.
• 10) Evaluate clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy.
