Sinai Hospital of Baltimore is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the 29-bed adult ICU, focusing on cardiac and cardiac surgery care. You will lead the evening nursing team, partner with physicians and APPs, and ensure safe staffing, bed flow, and high-quality patient outcomes.

Join a Level II Trauma Center within LifeBridge Health and guide the unit through staffing decisions, clinical coaching, and performance feedback, while preparing for broader leadership roles.

Qualifications

• Maryland RN license with BSN is required.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire; PALS if unit requires.
• 1–3 years ICU nursing experience; CICU/CSICU preferred.
• At least 1 year of formal nursing leadership experience.
• Strong communication and decision-making under pressure.
• Experience with EHR and staffing/scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Own evening operations for the 29-bed ICU as the on-site nursing leader; staffing, bed flow, and escalation decisions in real time.
• Strengthen cardiac and cardiac surgical care by coaching RNs on hemodynamic monitoring and post-cardiac surgery care.
• Drive accountability for quality and safety by tracking nurse-sensitive indicators and leading follow-up with staff.
• Develop the team through precepting, competency validation, and timely feedback.
• Coordinate care plans with physicians and APPs on rounds and keep patients/families informed.
• Extend leadership influence by leading unit initiatives and acting manager when needed.

About the Unit and Role

Sinai Hospital of Baltimore's 29-bed adult Intensive Care Unit cares for cardiac and cardiac surgical patients, along with a broad mix of critically ill adults, inside a Level II Trauma Center. As Assistant Nurse Manager on evenings (Monday to Friday, 3 PM to 11 PM), you'll lead the cardiac nursing team alongside physicians and APPs, keep the unit staffed and running safely, and build the leadership experience that prepares you for Nurse Manager and Director roles.

Responsibilities

• Own evening operations for the 29-bed ICU as the on-site nursing leader, making staffing, bed flow, and escalation decisions in real time
• Strengthen cardiac and cardiac surgical care by coaching RNs on hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive drips, and post-cardiac surgery recovery
• Drive accountability for quality and safety by tracking nurse-sensitive indicators (CLABSI, CAUTI, falls, pressure injuries) and leading follow-up with staff
• Develop your team through precepting, competency validation, real-time feedback, and input on performance evaluations
• Keep care plans aligned by partnering with physicians and APPs on rounds and keeping patients and families informed
• Extend the Nurse Manager's reach by leading unit initiatives and stepping in as acting manager when needed

Qualifications

• Active Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Advanced Cardiovascu lar Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire; PALS if required by unit - remove if not needed
• 1 to 3 years of critical care (ICU) nursing experience required
• Cardiac ICU (CICU) or Cardiac Surgical ICU (CSICU) experience strongly preferred
• 1 year of formal nursing leadership experience (charge nurse, assistant nurse manager, or supervisor) preferred
• CCRN or CSC certification preferred
• Experience with electronic health records and staffing/scheduling systems
• Clear communicator who makes sound decisions under pressure
