Description

ASSISTANT NIGHT MANAGER - Responsible to support the Night Manager with oversight of warehouse operations including Selection, Dock Management, Loading, On-Time departures and Sanitation.

Daily Expectations:

  1. Communication: Consistent and positive communication and follow up is critical. Regular follow-up, insight and action plans should be maintained daily.
  2. Management by Walking Around: Most of your night should be spent on the floor managing, coaching, challenging, and driving the action plans & priorities set for the shift. You should be keeping the goals of safety, production, and quality in clear sight of each employee. They should know where they stand, how they contribute, and where adjustments are needed. They should be celebrated for a job well done and coached to achieve each goal. We should know what motivates each of them.
  3. Ownership: Own every aspect of the night. Follow up on critical items throughout the operation. Checking orders, reviewing and being proactive regarding scanning, production, quality, equipment and facility care, truck loading and teamwork. Be aware of the details regarding pallet building, label placement, safety, and cleanliness.
  4. Teamwork and Culture: Drive the message of teamwork and accountability throughout the workforce. Be available to and seek out Day and Transportations teammates to review cross-functional needs and develop plans to drive consistent improvement across the business.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Admin Oversight: Oversee admin in all Shipping Office tasks
  • Back up Routing
  • Manager Support: Support Shift Manager through on the floor presence and employee monitoring and training. Run the shift at least 1 night/week
  • Production Management & Compliance:
    • Clean & Safe worksite
    • Quality Checkpoint:
      • Selection best practices
      • Pallet Building
      • Scanning & Efficiency
  • Work Assignment and Production Monitor:
    • Assign work per pre-shift planning
    • Update employees on PPH & Scanning Status through shift
    • Eliminate downtime:
      • Monitor breaks/lunch
      • “Water Cooler” chats
      • Enforce strict Clock in/OUT
