WOWK-TV in Charleston, WV is seeking an Assistant News Director to support the News Director in all aspects of news, weather and sports programming. You will help plan staffing, training and evaluate performance while mentoring staff and shaping coverage strategy.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism, strong English communication and at least two years in news production with leadership preference.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Minimum two years' experience in news programming production; leadership preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assists News Director with management of all aspects of the News Department (excluding Production).
• Assists with planning, staffing, training, and performance evaluations for the News Department.
• Consults on hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination decisions.
• Develops news coverage strategy for the station and its website.
• Critiques newscasts daily to improve coverage and mentor staff.
• Assigns projects to staff and ensures deadlines are met.
• Ensures achievement of viewer rating goals.
• Determines programming and equipment needs for quality programming.
• Responds to coverage questions.
• Serves as News Director in absence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
