Job summary

Albertsons Companies in Pleasanton, CA is seeking an Assistant Category Manager to lead category strategy and drive data-driven decisions across divisions.

You will partner with the National Category Director to manage assortment, shelf plans, pricing, and promotions while collaborating with merchants, operations, and analytics teams to translate trends into actionable plans. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Marketing, or related field.
• 1+ year of category experience.
• 3+ years in grocery industry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be experienced taking initiative and making decisive, yet appropriate decisions.
• Ability to read and interpret profit and loss statements and understand how components of the P&L affect category performance.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the National Category Director to strategically manage category(s) to meet sales, profit, and market share targets.
• Assist the Category Director in developing assortment, shelf planograms, and pricing & promotions strategy.
• Research category trends, innovations, competitors, and regional preferences.
• Prepare supplier negotiations strategies and attend key vendor meetings as needed.
• Maintain weekly, quarterly and yearly scorecards to track sales and profit across categories.
