Job summary

DICK'S Sporting Goods is seeking a Merchandising professional to assist with category development and ensure strong merchandise assortments. You will collaborate with merchants on the assortment process and apply financials to strategic plans.

The role includes owning in-season categories, monitoring performance, and recommending actions to optimize sales and inventory. Mentoring Merchandisers and interns is part of the scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• Four year college degree in marketing, merchandising or business related field
• 1-3 years experience
• Previous experience as Assistant Buyer (1-2 years) preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist the merchants in the in-depth development of merchandise assortments by category, collaborating on every aspect of the process.
• Sit with the merchant to go through the Merchandise Assortment Process and apply financials.
• Assume responsibility of in-season category ownership by monitoring performance and identifying opportunities.
• Make recommendations to drive for business results (buy more of/cancel future orders/price changes).
• Prepare and maintain recommended merchandise floor plans and game plans for the store locations.
• Ensure accuracy of merchandising reports, assortment sheets, and receipts.
• Recommend and communicate inventory quantities, levels and orders to the Allocations & Planning Departments.
• Research economic, financial, market, competitive and industry data to explain current business trends and anticipate new trends or big ideas.
• Manage store communication regarding initiatives (varies by dept.)
• Trains and mentors Merchandise Administrators, MTPs, and Interns.
