Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in sports or related field required.
• Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office, Teams, Excel.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with NCAA Compliance Assistant, Front Rush, or related system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate team activities.
• Assign duties and responsibilities to assistant coaches.
• Maintain knowledge of NCAA, CIAA, and Johnson C. Smith University rules and regulations.
• Assist with game day preparation and practice schedules; organize game day locker room.
• Oversee out of season planning and workouts; player development.
• Organize and monitor recruitment for the program; oversee compliance paperwork for off-campus recruiting and visits.
• Recruit and maintain roster sizes; complete compliance paperwork.
• Handle travel and lodging logistics for official visits and host duties.
• Coordinate community service activities.
• Monitor student-athletes’ academic progress toward graduation; assist with placement.
• Coordinate equipment issuance, care, inventory, and uniforms; purchasing of equipment and supplies.
• Supervise athletes during practice and events; ensure facility security.
• Submit rosters, awards forms, season records, travel forms and other required documents.
• Ensure completion of physical examination forms and coordinate injuries with training staff.
• Attend athletic department meetings; interact respectfully with officials, coaches, staff, and fans.
• Assist with awards presentations and other duties as assigned by Head Coach/Athletic Director.
