Assistant Meat Manager (Food Services)



We are actively seeking an Assistant Meat Manager for our store located in Port Washington, NY! At Uncle Giuseppe's our butchers cut meat the old fashioned way. Working directly with the Meat Manager, this new team member will be responsible for cutting all types of meat, trimming/cutting, preparing orders, managing staff, assisting with scheduling and inventory control. Individual must have in depth knowledge of all butchering tools with expertise using the bandsaw.

Responsibilities
Will be responsible for cutting all types of meat using all kitchen tools and equipment including a band saw and deboning knives
Receive and unload incoming shipments and price product to ensure product quality, protection and rotation in cases and refrigerators
Control department expenses by enhancing operations, meet budgeted goals and control shrinkage
Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards mandated by state, federal and OSHA regulations
Ensure associates run equipment safely
Comply with state, local and government weight, measures and labeling
Welcome and receive orders from customers
Other duties and functions as assigned

Requirements
HS Degree or equivalentMinimum of 3 years of experience managing a meat department in a grocery store environmentMust have advanced butchering skills using butchering tools including a bandsawFlexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidaysExceptional knowledge of handling perishable items and product rotationMust be able to speak, read and understand the English languageProficient with food safety and sanitation requirementsSelf motivated with the drive to work with limited supervisionAbility to hire, train and develop a team

Working Conditions
Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
