Job summary

Elephants Delicatessen is seeking a dynamic Assistant Manager to lead from the floor, ensuring excellent guest experiences and strong operational standards.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, coaching, and cross-training across restaurant functions in a fast-paced atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of leadership experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment.
• At least 3 years of hospitality experience.
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Able to stay composed and solution-oriented under pressure.
• Experience with POS systems (Toast preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead by example with consistent floor presence and hands-on support.
• Oversee daily service execution to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
• Cross-train across restaurant roles and step in to support operations.
• Coach and develop team members with thorough documentation processes.
• Reinforce sanitation and food safety standards.
• Monitor workflow, staffing, and pace during peak hours.
• Promote specials, upsell, and maintain product knowledge.
• Address guest concerns with professionalism and urgency.
• Handle inventory and follow order guides; count and maintain stock.
• Identify and troubleshoot facility issues proactively.
• Perform cash handling and accurate transactions; assist customers.

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic, guest-focused Assistant Manager who leads from the front. This role is responsible for maintaining an active presence on the floor, ensuring operational excellence, and creating a culture where both guests and team members thrive.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, natural coach, and decisive leader who can balance hospitality with accountability in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

• Lead by example with consistent floor presence and hands-on support
• Oversee daily service execution to ensure exceptional guest experience
• Cross-train across all restaurant roles and step in as needed to support operations
• Coach and develop team members in real time, ensuring thorough and efficient documentation processes
• Reinforce service, sanitation, and food safety standards
• Monitor workflow, staffing deployment, and pace during peak hours
• Promote specials, drive upselling, and maintain strong product knowledge
• Address guest concerns with professionalism and urgency
• Handling and owning inventory including, following order guides, counting and maintaining stock as needed.
• Proactive in identifying and troubleshooting Facility issues
• Cash handling; accuracy in making all transactions; maintain register supplies. Assist customers with their purchases in a professional, friendly, and timely manner

• At least 1 year of leadership experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment
• At least 3 years of hospitality experience
